After graduation from Reed City High School, Richard served three years as an intelligence specialist in Vietnam and France in the U.S. Army.  He graduated from Michigan State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He began his financial services career in April 1971 in Reed City, Michigan.  Richard has earned the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designations.  In 2002, Michigan Governor John Engler appointed Richard to serve as a Trustee of the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority.  Richard and his wife Johnell reside in Reed City, Michigan.  They have two children and two grandchildren.
